I really don't think I'll be updating this journal very much anymore. But, I have good news. I started an art journal, which I will try to update every single day. Cool, eh? The address for it is www.xanga.com/SpiffyMadNotes. Go, please, check it out. Leave comments. Hope you like it.

And here, for your viewing pleasure, is my latest watercolor.
Just click here.
I'm not sure if I like her or not. Her back leg looks funny. And I don't think there's enough contrast in the picture. But ah well, it's one of my first attempts.
I'm working on another girl right now. I'll try to put her up as soon as possible.
Please, please, comment and tell me what you think.

| I thought you might want to hear from me.... |
[05 Apr 2004|06:54pm] |
.....because I haven't written in a while. So I thought I'd give you a quick silly quiz.
1: Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says: "1 Select the seletion tool in the toolbox, and click the napkin to select it."
2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?: My vacuum.
3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?: The Blue Collar Comedy Tour on Comedy Central.
4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is: 6:30 pm.
5: Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?: 6:41 pm.
6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?: Creaking from people moving around in the apartment above us. The whirring of the air conditioner. Dart's occasional murmurs to himself.
7: When did you last step outside? what were you doing?: I coming home from class.
8: What are you wearing?: Hehe. My Grumpybear carebear sleep shirt, and matching underoos. Very cute.
(Apparently, number 9 is missing. Weird.)
10: Did you dream last night? Not that I can remember.
11: When did you last laugh? Most likely this morning in German class, although I can't remember specifically.
12: What is on the walls of the room you are in?: Lots of abstract art that my mom, Bret, and I made. Along with a few paintings of Japanese Kanji symbols Brett painted.
13: Seen anything weird lately?: Not that I can think of.
14: What do you think of this quiz?: It's taking longer than I thought it would.
15: What is the last film you saw?: Walking Tall. A very good movie by the way. I love The Rock.
16: If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?: A nice house.
17: Tell me something about you that I don't know: I have a tiny heart-shaped birthmark on my right side parallel with my belly-button.
18: If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?: I wouldn't. No, I take that back. I'd make me and my friends rich and famous for whatever we do best. (Ex. Make Brett a famous musician, me a famous artist and author, Minkler a famous comedian.)
19: Do you like to dance?: Sometimes.
20: George Bush: I try to stay away from politics, so I refuse to comment.
21: Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?: Aurora Taylor. Or Zoey Piper. Or something equally cute and interesting.
21: Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?: Gabriel Asher. Or something as equally interesting to me.
22: Would you ever consider living abroad?: Hell yes. In fact, I've been considering it alot lately. Like living somewhere in Europe, like Germany or Scotland for a year or so.
There you go. There's your silly quiz. And it wasn't quick like I thought it would be. Dammit. But now you know I'm alive, since I posted. Anyhoo. Toodles.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been sick. And if you're not aware, being sick really sucks.
Haven't done much of anything lately. I've got a test on Monday that I'm totally not prepared for. I'm gonna try and study this weekend, but I'll probably bomb it.
I actually did some sketches today, but none of them got past the sketchy stage. Maybe I'll turn one or two in a full blown drawing sometime soon.
My stupid teacher gave me yet another 77. This time she gave me a 77 on my nonfiction piece. Grrr.
I'm so happy. Minkler's gonna be here pretty soon! And my birthday's in two weeks. Yay me. I'm still not sure what all we're gonna do while he's here, but I know we'll have fun. Hopefully it'll warm up by them. Today was friggin' cold.
Anyway. That's all I gotta say for now.

Okay. I finally found a place that'll host my pictures. So now I can show you pictures! The scanner I had didn't do any of them justice, so I swear they look better in real life. But anyway. Click the little linky to see the picture.

So there. Hopefully that worked. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. They're all done in watercolors.

I'm debating either a) going to sleep since I got less than a hour last night b) staying up and practicing guitar and playing video games or c) going outside and sketching. Lots of nice choices, but to be honest I'll probably sleep. My brain's not tired, but my entire body is. Which sucks cause it's a beautiful day outside. The sun's shining, yet it still manages to be nice and cool. I've got these huge bags under my eyes, so maybe I should sleep.
I'm so happy cause Minkler bought his plane ticket! He is most definately coming down for Spring Break. I can't wait! I miss the silly bugger (who needs to update his journal more often.) He sounds like he's having a rough time lately, and I just wanna give 'im a big ol' hug and force-feed him cause he never eats enough. Hehe. That'd make him feel better. Hugs and food. Oh. And video games. And theme parks. And lots of other fun stuff. Dammit! I wish Spring Break was already here.
I came to the conclusion the other day I'm going to try and stay in German for the remainder of college, instead of just the one required year. That is if I can manage it. If I can afford to. I'd really like to become fluent in it. I love learning the language, and I actually have fun in the class. Plus, being bilingual is so damn cool.
Oo! I watched 50 First Dates on Valentine's Day. Techinically it was the day after, cause the movie started at 12:40. But still. I love that movie! Go see it! It's sad and happy, and funny, and wonderful. That movie is the definition of love. If someone was willing to do that every single day for the rest of their life.... anyway. Go watch it. You'll understand.
I just had to write a non-fiction piece for my creative writing class. Talk about hard. I can do fiction and poetry easy... but non-fiction is friggin' hard. But I did it. I'm not sure how good the piece is. And it's kinda personal. But non-fiction kinda has to be. Anyway, if you ask really really nicely I just might post it up on my journal. So... feel free to beg. Hehe.
I have two quotes from today. Both were from my American History class. The silly man just zoomed right over the roaring 20's and jumped into the Depression. How boring and aggravating is that? Anyway, here's the quotes.
"The first responsibility of an American is no longer that of a citizen, but of a consumer." - said by somebody in the 1920's.
Refering to European civilization - "An old bitch gone in the teeth.... a botched civilization." - said by Ezra Pound. (Keep in mind it's a quote. I don't agree, just thought it was humoreous.)

This sucks. I laid down early today to take a short nap. After I got up I was gonna tape Angel and Smallville cause Brett's at work and can't see them. Instead of taking a short nap, I slept til about 9:10. So I didn't get to tape Angel or Smallville. Dammit. This really bites.
Hm. Other than that. Nothing much has happened lately. We're supposed to go to the Enzian Theater with Becky tomorrow to see Girl With a Pearl Earring. The Enzian Theater is supposed to be this cool theater where you can go sit at a table and order food while watching a movie. No stuffy movie theater seats, just nice roomy tables and supposedly loveseats. I've never been before, so it should be cool.
I also wanna see 50 First Dates this weekend, cause it looks adorable. Hopefully I'll get to.
Grr. I'm still in a pissy mood cause I missed my shows. Hopefully Jeremy taped them and will let us borrow the tape.
Okay. I'm gonna go play a video game or something now. Go away.

Mm. I've been lazy all weekend. I really need a job or something. Something to do so I don't waste so much time doing nothing.
We went out to eat last night with Mike and Tabby to a delicous Italian restaraunt. It was soooo good. Expensive, but good. And we've got tons of leftovers. We decided that that counted as our Valentine's Day dinner, since we probably shouldn't spend a ton of money for another dinner anytime soon.
Mm. We rented two games. Way of the Samurai, for Playstation. I haven't played it, but Brett has. It looks really nifty, but really hard. The other thing we rented was Mario Sunshine for Gamecube. I'm addicted to that game. I played last night for hours and I've been playing since I woke up today. See? Told you I was being lazy this weekend.
Well, not much else to report. So, I'm gonna leave it at that.

I didn't go to school today. I woke up and felt horrible. My stomach felt like it was tied in knots, and I was naseous. I keep feeling like I needed to throw up but couldn't. So I didn't go to school. I went back to sleep instead.
I woke up later, and I feel better... but I still feel weird. Very... out of it. Which sucks.
My stupid teacher gave me a 77 on my Cowboy in the Jungle poem. A 77! My poem was so much better than that. Dammit. She basically wants me to spell everything out in the poem, as if the people who read it are idiots. I might as well write "A brave man hunts a jungle cat in a beautiful jungle. The cat kills him. The point of this poem is that life can be wonderful and beautiful, but everyone inevitably dies, so it kinda sucks." But what the hell kind of poem would that be? Stupid woman.
I can rewrite it and turn it in for another grade later. But I don't want to. I liked it the way it was. Dammit.
Anyway, I'm gonna go be lazy for the rest of the day. Hopefully that'll make me feel better.

So, nothing much happening around here. Took a test on Monday. Not sure how well or bad I did. Hopefully I did well. Uhm, did I mention that all the people in my Creative Writing class are morons? They all gave me contradicting critiques for my "Cowboy in the Jungle" poem. Hmph.
We rented Lost in Translation and Emma today. And we rented Anything Else the other day. I'm still not sure if I liked Anything Else or not. It was a Woody Allen film, and I'd never seen one of his films before. Very... weird. It's an awkward sort of comedy. I guess I did like it though. We're watching Emma tomorrow. (It's got Ewan McGregor in it. Yay.) And Lost in Translation is a wonderful, wonderful movie. I adored it. Go rent it. It's fantabulous.
Otherwise, I've done lots of nothing lately. I wanna paint another picture, but haven't had a burst of inspiration yet. Hopefully it'll hit me soon and I'll do one.
Uhm... I have nothing else to say, really.

I'm so bloody friggin' happy! Last night, I for no apparent reason decided to take a midnight trip to Walmart. And what did I find there? A Life Less Ordinary! And it was only $5.50! Hell-friggin'-yeah! So now I own it! Yay!
Minkler blew me off last night. -insert sad pathetic puppy dog eyes here-. I called him, he said he'd call me back. But he didn't! He hates me! Oooo... woe is me.
( Another Poem )
This one's weird, I know. But I had to do it for class, and she gave us a specific way to come up with it. Trust me, it's better than most of the people in that class.
Oo. I just finished yet another watercolor portrait. This one was of Elijah Wood. That makes five so far. Two of Tom Welling, one of James Marsters, one of Ewan McGregor, and one of Elijah Wood. Pretty soon I'm hoping to make a website and put 'em up for all to see. I might stick a link up here to one of them later if anybody wants to see. I don't really wanna bother with scanning them and all that right now though. I wanna do another one of Ewan McGregor next. Then I'll hafta do some of the ones that Becky asked me to do. She pretty much gave me a list of actors and told me to paint them. But that's cool.
Anyway. I'm waiting on Becky to get here so we can go eat at Great China. (I love that place.) Hey. If you're reading this, reply with a comment. I wanna see who still reads my journal. Oo. And tell me if you think I should upgrade my journal and make it all pretty-like.
Toodles.

Ever have one of those days where you feel like your brain is fuzzy? Where it's hard to concentrate on things, and you fell really sluggish. Yeah, I'm having one of those. And what sucks is I know I should be doing other stuff. I have tons of homework that I could be doing, should be doing in fact, but I don't wanna. I just want to lay in bed and watch bad TV. The fact that I just woke up like twenty minutes ago might have something to do with this. I slept in way too long.
Dammit. I just realized we have a movie that was due back to Blockbuster, today at noon. And it's still here. And it's way past noon. Dammit.
Okay, so here's the poem. It's kinda personal, cause its drawn from experiences in my life. But anyway, ( Read more... )

I quit writing in this a while back, mostly due to lack of anything important to say. But it seems some people (aka Minkler) actually like reading my unimportant ramblings, so I thought maybe I'd start keeping it up again. This is not a promise. I'll just try, and see where it takes me.
I've been on this Ewan McGregor kick ever since I watched Big Fish. Wonderful movie. Go see it. Now.
Anyway, so since then I went back and watched Down With Love and rented Trainspotting and A Life Less Ordinary. Of course, Down With Love is wonderful and adorable as I've said a zillion times. Trainspotting and A Life Less Ordinary are also masterpieces, albeit incredibly bizzare. Trainspotting is about a herion addict, and A Life Less Ordinary is just this incredibly bizzare love story. But I love 'em both. Hoepfully when I get some money I can buy them. Now only if I could get my hands on some other Ewan McGregor movies. Most of his movies aren't typical Hollywood movies though, so therefore are usually hard to come by. Which is part of the reason I like 'em.
So. Uhm. Nothing else is really going on. I've got a Creative Writing class that I actually like, even though it's pretty damn tough. It's really gotten my brain exercising. So far I've written two poems, one's kinda personal, and the other is just something odd I came up with. If you'd like for me to share them, please leave a comment telling me so. Otherwise, I'm not going to post them cause I generally hate people who post long, crappy, melodramatic poetry in their journals. Mine's not crappy or melodramatic, but still.
Speaking of long melodramatic stuff, I'm going to end this post with a ridculously long conversation from A Life Less Ordinary and another long quote from Trainspotting. But just to be nice, ( I'll put them behind a cut )
All you have to do is click the little link and you can read them. Or don't click it, and don't read them. Anyway. Buhbye.

Worst thing about today: Feeling really rundown. Best thing about today: Not having to go to Design class.
So haven't done much of anything lately. Brett and I did go bowling last night with his co-workers Melody and Janene. Both of who are really nice. Melody brought her boyfriend along but he was super quiet and said all of maybe two words. I lost miserably both games, but it was still fun. And I got a strike, so yay for me!
Uhm. Becky called this morning to tell me Design had been cancelled. I was so friggin' happy. I hate going to that class.
Now I'm waiting on Mike to get here so we can go catch a bite to eat, and then I hafta go to my Math Lab.
I've got lots of work to do for my Drawing class, and I don't really wanna do any of it. I missed one day and she gave out a huge assignment that day. So I hafta do that assignment (Draw, and shade some cow skulls. Most people I talked to said they spent about nine hours on theirs.Eek.) Plus she didn't think my room drawing looked finished, so I need to spend a few more hours working on that. Ick.
Oo. Yay. And I don't hafta go to school Monday or Tuesday. I don't hafta go Monday cause the teacher said she would give us a day off, and I don't hafta go Tuesday cause it's Veteran's Day. Woohoo! Long weekend for me. Yay.
Uhm, that's about all I hafta say. You can continue with your lives now.

Worst thing about today: Really bad traffic. Best thing about today: Having fun with friends.
Jeremy's birthday was today. I think it went rather well. It was spent with me, Brett, and Becky. We took them out to eat at TGIFriday's, and then to Blockbuster to pick out a movie. We rented Chocolat, one of the best damn movies in the world. I've seen it before but could watch it thousands of times. I love it. And we got Jeremy a red velvet cake with a lil' Gandalf the White figure to go on top of it.
All in all, I think it was a very nice day.
Now I'm going to bed.

Worst thing about today: This horrible headache that I still have. Best thing about today: The fact that I got to relax, watch my shows, hang out with my baby and Jeremy, and see a free movie. Wait. That's four things. Oh well.
Saw Elf. Very funny, cute, wholesome movie. Go see it.
Watched Angel and Smallville. Missed South Park, but I'm sure I'll catch a rerun this week. Angel was incredibly weird. The Hulk-looking Lorne was pretty damn cheesy. Smallville was pretty good. Although Clark's a moron and should just get back with Lona. Idiot.
Have a huge splitting headache that won't go away. Been there for about two hours now.
Not sure if we'll do anything for Halloween. Had some really cute costume ideas, but I don't think I'll end up getting them. Cause we're poor. Wish I had more money.
Speaking of money, signed up for a "short-term advance" at the finicial aid today. Meaning they'll give me $600 in a few days as long as I pay it back by December 5. Which is good. Cause I need money now. Specially since the idiot VA people forgot to send in my paperwork and I won't get my check for another couple of weeks. Have I complained about that already? Oh well. It still pisses me off.
Built my lil' Death guy for class the other day. I like him alot. I don't give a rat's ass if Mr. Moron does or not. Cause I like him. Gotta take him into class tomorrow and go through critique. I hate critique.
Here's my stupid quote I actually heard this week. "I know. Having golden cheese would be great. I know." from my drawing class teacher.

Worst thing about today: I didn't finish my drawing assignment. Best thing about today: Talking to Minkler.
So I didn't finish my assignment all the way. Mostly because I'm not sure how to finish it. So hopefully tomorrow at critique I'll learn how.
Talked to the Mink today. I've missed him lots. Was so good to have a nice long talk with him.
Jeremy was supposta get home today but we haven't heard anything from him. Hope his trip went well.
Anyhoo. I'm going to bed. Sorry for the shortness of the post.

Worst thing of today: I got nothing accomplished. Best thing of the day: I got to sleep in.
Figured I'd start having a worst thing/best thing of the day on all my posts from here on out. Just something to start off with.
Haven't updated in a while cause there's not much to tell. I've cleaned up some. I've worked on my Drawing assignment some. Nothing else really.
Just tried to call Minkler and Christy again. And guess what? They're not home! Not much of a surprise there though. They're never home when I call. Grr and stuff.
Uhm. Yah. What else? Brett's job sucks. He's gonna try to start looking for another one. Lots of stupid bullshit is happening there since the management's changed, so it's gonna start sucking even more. Grr again.
Oh. Called the VA office. The reason my check hasn't come in yet is because some stupid idiot forgot to send in the paperwork!! Morons. The head guy at the office over there apologized about a thousand times and said he's sent my info in online and put an emergency notice on it. But it'll probably still be 2-3 more weeks before I get it. So my credit card bill is slowly rising because I'm having to charge everything. Hm. More like quickly rising. I hate being broke.
Jeremy should fly back in tomorrow. Yay.
Brett got free passes to go see the movie Elf. Mucho cool. Unfortunately it'll be on during Smallville and Angel. So we're gonna tape 'em and watch them afterwards. Hope the tapes turn out good cause this Angel episode looks like it's gonna be hilarious.
Oo. And don't forget to turn your clocks back people. It's Daylight Savings Time.
Now I've ran out of things to say. So go away.

So yesterday was mine and Brett's three year anniversary. What did we do? We stayed in and watched Smallville, Angel, and South Park. Wish we could have done more. Tonight we're staying in, ordering pizza, and watching a movie. We'd do more if we could, but as it is we already spent too much money today. WAAAH. Being poor sucks.
I love Brett. He's the best boyfriend that ever did or will exist.
I'm gonna go snuggle with my sweetie now. Go away.
